Happy New Year Friends -
Just a quick note here with some updates from the Little Beirut world. We’re still working hard on new material – writing, revising, recording demos, exploring sounds, pedals and gadgets in an effort to see where the muse will be taking us for the next record. And interesting, often disparate places it seems to be going. Why don’t people do double albums anymore? Maybe that’s what we need… Anyway, things always have a way of taking longer than anticipated in this process so we can’t predict exactly when we’ll release whatever this becomes, but we can say for sure that we’ll start the recording this year.
Our next Portland show will be on February 24th at the Star Theater, opening for The My Oh My’s CD release party (Redray Frazier also playing). This will be a great show in a pretty styly new venue – we hope to see you there!
On a final note, we’ve got some fun free downloads for you. Our friend Timmy, from the awesome Ellensburg, Washington band, Tyrannosaurus Grace, has done a couple of remixes for us. He’s twisted Last Light and Cosmic Waitress off of Fear of Heaven into some pretty slammin’ dance floor grooves. Check them out here.

Was it a good year for ya? Well it’s about over. We have one last show, just post Christmas, and we want to see you there. We will be debuting several songs from the new record we’re hard at work on.
Hey peeps – wanted to give you all a brief update on what’s been going on with us recently:
After playing a bunch of shows this winter/spring in Portland and Seattle, we decided to take a short break from booking to concentrate on new material. We upgraded our recording setup at the rehearsal space, so we’ve been recording ideas right left and center and seeing what sticks. We’ve got about 16 new songs we’re working on in various states of completion, but we’re pretty excited about the many different directions things seem to be going in. 2 of these we’ll debut at our next show.
That show is Friday, May 27th at Backspace. We’re playing with our good buddies in Western Family, and Grandparents. We’re going to be opening the show, so make sure you get there early. This is an all ages show, but also has a full bar for 21 and over. Love the all ages thing – there isn’t enough of it around in my opinion. So bring your babies and kids!!
Tonight at 9:00, 10:00, 11:30, and 2:00AM (eastern time) Crooked Crown – the closing track on Fear of Heaven is going to be played on MTV’s The Real World: Las Vegas. We’re super happy about this because we’ve been working on a bunch of licensing opportunities and now we’re seeing this come to fruition. Check it out!
Other upcoming shows are June 18th at Skylark in Seattle and August 26th at the new McMenamins place, the Crystal Hotel. But we have some others in progress so we’ll update you when more summer shows are finalized.
